VOLUME 2: Kansas City's finest and one of LA's favorites, "Bloodstone"
hit the stage looking too good with their black tuxedos and red
vests!! They surprised everybody by opening with the classic Tower
of Power tune 'You're Still A Young Man' and had the entire crowd
screaming and cheering!!! Next came the Bloodstone anthem, 'Natural
High' which caused even more excitement! Charles McCormick's silky
falsetto voice was better than ever. They closed to a standing ovation
with 12,000 hands waving from side to side as they performed the
sentimental song 'We Go A Long
Way Back'.
Then it was time to party! Al Hudson's 'ONE WAY' came out and gave
Los Angeles an awesome party version of 'CUTIE PIE'. With the energy
extremely high in the amphitheatre and the girls shaking their groove
thing, the crowd got into it and didn't stop until they got enough
as One Way sang "It's Time to Go Now"…and exited
the stage to a huge ovation. Next came the moment that so many people
had waited for!! The Bad Boy's Of Soul and East L.A's best, SLY
SLICK AND WICKED hit the stage looking color coordinated and wearing
their classic Fedora hats! As they entered, it sounded like the
President of the United States had just given everybody a tax break!
The crowd went wild!!! They opened with 'Somebody Please', then
went into 'Thin Line Between Love and Hate' and closed with the
everyone's favorite song 'Confessin A Feeling!' SLY SLICK AND WICKED
TURNED IT OUT!!!
Next, a true legend graced the stage!! Ms. Barbara Lewis, one of
the classiest ladies we know charmed the crowd with her sweet and
perfect voice! She opened with 'Hello Stranger', received roses
from the fans while performing, gave us her version of why she never
wanted to record 'Baby I'm Yours' and then closed with that classic
song! Barbara sounded better than ever and the fans really showed
their appreciation for this lovely lady by singing along, cheering
and giving back their love!! Finally, The Mad Lads, those classic
gentleman from Memphis, gave the crowd a trip back to the past!!
They came out styling in their dapper blue suits, went into formation
and sang their hearts out on the classic Slow Jam 'You Don't have
To Shop Around'. With the extended version being performed and each
member telling the crowd how they tell their woman that they love
her, the audience got a chance to see true professionals at their
craft . The Mad Lads were definitely one of the big crowd pleasers
of the night!!!!
